Mahama Nominates New DCEs to Boost Local Governance

Date:

In a bid to strengthen local governance and accelerate development, President John Dramani Mahama has nominated a fresh set of District Chief Executives (DCEs) for eight out of Ghana’s 16 regions.

The appointments, made under Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), reflect the government’s commitment to grassroots transformation and effective administration at the district level.

A statement signed by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, confirmed the nominations, emphasizing that the appointees must secure approval from their respective District Assemblies before officially assuming office.

This latest move aligns with President Mahama’s broader vision of ensuring efficient leadership and sustainable development across the country’s local governance structures.
