Among Ghana’s many tourist sites, Boti Waterfalls is the second most visited waterfall in the country and the top attraction in the Eastern Region.

In this post, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know about exploring Boti Waterfalls located in the heart of Ghana, in a small town called Boti, from which the waterfall takes its name.

Getting to Boti Waterfalls

The waterfall is approximately:

1 hour 45 minutes drive from Accra

45 minutes drive from Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital

Upon arrival, we paid an entrance fee of 50 cedis per person as foreign visitors. Drivers are excluded.

The parking lot was lively, with vendors selling cocoa products ( the fruit), traditional souvenirs, and handcrafted artifacts, a great way to experience local culture before starting the adventure.

The Adventure Begins: 250 Stairs to Nature’s Masterpiece

A tour guide was assigned to us, and that’s when the real adventure began – a whopping 250 stairs down to the waterfall.

The descent was a workout, but every step was worth it. When we finally reached the base, we were greeted by a stunning 30-meter-high twin waterfall, split into two distinct sections:

The Male Fall — the broader, more powerful side

The Female Fall — the narrower, more delicate side

According to the locals, these twin falls symbolize masculine and feminine energy, adding an extra layer of meaning to this natural wonder.

The water flows from the Rocky Mountains, forming a plunge pool where both locals and tourists enjoy a refreshing swim. The cool, clear water against the backdrop of lush greenery felt like stepping into paradise.
